Hurricane Helene Emergency Schedule

UPDATE 10/8/2024: WE WANTED TO CLARIFY THE SITUATION REGARDING RECYCLING PICKUP THIS WEEK, AS THERE HAS BEEN SOME CONFUSION. DUE TO THE COUNTY’S TEMPORARY INABILITY TO RECEIVE RECYCLING (WHICH HAS JUST CHANGED), WE WERE UNABLE TO COLLECT RECYCLABLES EARLIER IN THE WEEK. SINCE WE HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED A FULL DAY UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT WE COULD NOT PICK UP RECYCLING, WE WILL CONTINUE WITH THIS APPROACH FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK.

EVERYTHING AT THE CURB SHOULD BE TREATED AS TRASH, SO PLEASE REFRAIN FROM PUTTING OUT RECYCLABLES. TO COMPENSATE FOR THE MISSED RECYCLING PICKUPS, WE WILL COLLECT EXTRA RECYCLING NEXT WEEK.

OUR PRIORITY THIS WEEK IS TO REMOVE THE UNUSUALLY LARGE AMOUNTS OF REGULAR TRASH FROM YOUR HOMES AND ENSURE IT IS PROPERLY DISPOSED OF. TO ACHIEVE THIS, WE NEED TO DEDICATE ALL OF OUR TRUCKS TO TRASH COLLECTION.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION.

UPDATE 10/5/2024:  WE PLAN TO RESUME ROUTES ON MONDAY, 10/7/2024, STARTING WITH MONDAY’S REGULAR SCHEDULE. WHILE WE ANTICIPATE SOME ROADS MAY STILL BE INACCESSIBLE, WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO SERVICE AS MANY CUSTOMERS AS POSSIBLE. WE WILL ALSO COLLECT DOUBLE CAPACITY GARBAGE THIS WEEK SINCE SERVICE WAS SUSPENDED LAST WEEK. RECYCLING: RECYCLING COLLECTION HAS BEEN SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THE COUNTY’S RECYCLING PROCESSOR IS CURRENTLY CLOSED, AND THE TRANSFER STATION IS NOT ACCEPTING RECYCLING FROM HAULERS. WE WILL NOTIFY OUR CUSTOMERS AS SOON AS WE RECEIVE AN UPDATE AND CAN RESUME RECYCLING SERVICE. PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT HAVE A TIMELINE FOR WHEN RECYCLING WILL RESUME.

UPDATE 10/4/2024: WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE ACCEPTING TRASH DROP OFFS AT OUR OFFICE TODAY (FRIDAY) THROUGH SUNDAY.  WE ARE PLANNING TO RESUME ROUTES ON MONDAY WITH MONDAY’S ROUTE. WE WILL SERVICE ROADS THAT WE ARE SAFELY ABLE TO ACCESS.

UPDATE 10/1/2024:  IF YOU ARE ABLE TO GET OUT AND TRAVEL SAFELY, WE ARE ACCEPTING TRASH DROP OFFS AT OUR OFFICE AT 2411 ASHEVILLE HWY FROM 9AM TO 4PM.

9/30/2024: Due to the severe damage caused by Hurricane Helene, we are suspending all operations this week. Many roads are blocked by trees, powerlines, flooding, or have been washed away entirely. Attempting to navigate these conditions with large trucks would not only be confusing to our customers about which areas we can and can’t service but also put our teams and equipment in dangerous situations. Additionally, many of our employees are unable to report to work at this time.

We understand this may be inconvenient, but safety is our priority. To make up for the delay, we will collect double the usual amount of trash next week.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time.
